Walkers will be climbing Le Val des Terres in January to raise money for two charities.

More than 500 have already joined Le Val De Terres Everest Challenge’s Facebook group ahead of putting one foot in front of the other from the 1 January.

Participants will complete a circuit around the Le Val des Terres, George Road and Havelet. Each lap is 1.6km and has 77m elevation.

The challenge is to complete 115 laps, the equivalent total height of Mount Everest of 8,848m.

Entrants can do this as individuals or in teams dividing the overall laps between them.

Money raised will go to the Smile for Georgie charity, which is gifting 30% to the Guernsey Down Syndrome Group.
