Tri challenge with a party atmosphere is back

A positive party atmosphere is promised as the Hel(l)vetia Challenge returns.

The triathlon event, organised by Credit Suisse, will be split into competitive and non-competitive sections to encourage people to enjoy a fun day with colleagues or friends.

It takes place on Friday 8 July from 12 to 5pm.

Alex Vincent, Tim Woosley, Glen Tonks and Christine Lesbirel

Glen Tonks, CEO of Credit Suisse Guernsey, said: ‘We’re delighted to announce the return of the Hel(l)vetia Challenge. We’ve streamlined the sign-up process this year, which we hope will encourage more teams to sign up. This event is the perfect way to bring groups together and raise money for a local charity in a friendly open-to-all event. ’

Tickets are £10 for an individual and £30 for a team of three. Individuals who sign up will have the opportunity to do a single leg or all three. Ticket sales will be donated to the Guernsey Society for Cancer Relief, Credit Suisse’s charity of the year.

Advocate Peter Atkinson, chairman of the charity, said: ‘We’re grateful to Credit Suisse for their support. The past two years have been difficult for the island’s third sector so this event is going to have a real impact on our charity and the people we help.’

The circuit begins with a 600-metre swim in Havelet Bay, followed by a 1km  bike ride up and down the Val des Terres, concluding with a 2km run along South Esplanade to Castle Cornet and back.

There will be a DJ and a barbeque.
